NGORONGORO CA:

The 8,292sq kms of the NCA has been declared an "International Biosphere Reserve"
and is a unique, varied and interesting multi-land-use area open to the wonders of exploration.

NGORONGORO CRATER
:
About 20kms across, 600 metres deep and 300 sq kms in area

WHERE:
In northern Tanzania. Between Lake Manyara to the south and Serengeti to the West

WHY:
The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest intact caldera in an exceptional geographical position,
forming a spectacular bowl. The rich pasture supports over 25,000 animals, predominantly grazing animals,
including some of Tanzania's last black rhinos.

WHEN:
The Crater rim, over 2,200 metres high, touches swathes of clouds for most days of the year,
with cool high altitude vapours that seem to bring a clean lightness to the air, and also a chill.
These highlands wake up to a misty fog in most months, other than the high dry season during December and January.

ACCOMMODATION:
Lodges and Luxury Lodges, Campsites on Crater Rim

PRIVATE SAFARIS
